Our new Shared Boards feature is now available, letting your team members collaborate and share links more effectively. Take a look at how it works and never let a link get lost in translation again.
Have you ever shared an insightful article with your team only to find that nobody’s even seen it? Moments after sending, it’s buried beneath other emails, comments, messages, or hidden in spreadsheets, never to be found again? We’ve all been there.
A challenge many editorial teams face is that they lack a designated space, free from distractions, where colleagues can share helpful content when working on articles. What’s needed is a collaborative platform that brings teams together and encourages the cross-pollination of ideas to improve the creation of fresh content.
That’s why we’ve taken our LOYAL Boards feature one step further. With Shared Boards, you can now store all of your favourite articles in one convenient place and share with team members to add their favourite articles too.
Within editorial teams, shared boards can be used in a number of ways, for example:
- Editor to writer – Editors can easily share helpful articles with writers to help inform and support an article’s development. With shared boards editors can quickly access a writer’s board and add suggested reading.
- Peer to peer – Journalists working on an article relating to a topic covered by another department can create a board that’s accessible to the whole team in order to share articles for reference or links to a specific developing story.
- Search to editorial teams – A publication’s head of search can create a board, input links to valuable SEO content, so that journalists can easily access them and input high-quality internal links to swiftly boost the discoverability of articles.
It’s a handy place to trade ideas and work seamlessly together to create brilliant content, every day.

Once you’ve set up a shared board (we’ll walk you through this process a little later in the article), it’s time to start curating a library of stored articles and let your colleagues input helpful links along the way.
If you’re looking to bridge the gap between editorial and search (SEO) teams, Shared Boards can help. Now that search is integral to the functioning of digital-first publishers in terms of driving readership, reaching potential new subscribers and boosting revenue, collaboration between these two teams is essential.
This is why shared boards is a powerful way for journalists to work with colleagues beyond their immediate team. They can not only share boards with editors and peers to input during the ideation phase of an article, but they can share boards with technical search experts too.
For instance, once within a shared board, a head of audience growth can quickly add and point journalists towards high-traffic articles and quality internal links that would be beneficial to embed into their article. The streamlined design of Shared Boards makes this process quick and easy.
These links can then be identified and assessed by journalists to support them as they optimise articles to the highest possible standard before publishing.
Access shared boards from anywhere
Another benefit of Shared Boards is that they can be accessed by the whole team, wherever they work – for example, within Google docs, Word or in the LOYAL web app.
Whenever somebody discovers a thought-provoking or strong link worth sharing, they can quickly access and add it to a shared board by opening the LOYAL extension within their browser before disrupting their train of thought.
You can also access Shared Boards in the LOYAL web app where you can view and organise articles within a clean and clear design.

Organise and streamline shared research
You can effortlessly cut through the noise to find the exact board you’re looking for in seconds.
When creating a board, you’ll be given the option to add numerous hashtags that will link your board to specific categories. This lets you search for boards easily in the LOYAL search bar, using hashtags.
What’s more, you can filter out irrelevant content by selecting specific topics in the topics bar. LOYAL uses advanced technology to identify topics within your articles – these will be displayed at the top of your screen. Simply select each topic to call up content only relating to these topics and nothing else.
Quickly spot the best internal links
Finding and saving articles in LOYAL means that you have access to powerful metrics for each article as you search. Select the “SEO” button to the right of each article to view how beneficial a link will be to embed to improve search rankings.
